It's a jungle out there

The other evening I went to the mall.  I saw a reaaaaaaaally sketchy group of people in the parking lot and the thought crossed my mind as one of the guys walked toward me, "This is how I'll die."

I didn't end up dying.  (I told Braeden the story and he helpfully pointed out that detail.)

Then yesterday morning something even scarier happened!

(I tell you, life can get dramatic.)

I was leaving for my morning walk and as I walked out the door, I saw a mouse skitter across my lawn, coming right at me, like it wanted to attack me.  I am mortally afraid of mice.  I know it's illogical and irrational but they terrify me.  Give me snakes and spiders any day.

The mouse crouched by the steps in a menacing way.  (Or maybe it was scared of me...could have been I guess.)

I eased past it to--you know--avoid it's fangs and talons. (It's possible.  You weren't there.)  Then it scampered into the flower bed.

I felt ill.  I felt like I was never going to return from my walk.  I would just keep walking to a land where there are no rodents.  Mark was on his own.

If Braeden were here, he would (helpfully) point out that I did end up coming home.

All's well that ends well.

Our yard is no showpiece at the moment but we do have a few flowers that have poked out their lovely heads.  No wonder the mice like it.

And then here are the "watercolor" versions, for no good reason...
