Help

Dear Mama,

Are you reading this?

I haven't been to the dentist for 1 1/2 years.

I feel terrible about this.

But I don't like going to the dentist.

I took Emma to the orthodontist awhile ago and was told she needs to get some baby teeth pulled that are fused to the bone.  I got her an appointment immediately and I'm taking her to the dentist today.

See, I am perfectly willing to take my children to the dentist.

So I need you to make me an appointment.

Then drive me there.

And promise me a treat and a lot of sympathy if it's awful.

Because it will be.

What do you say?  Do you want me to send you my dentist's phone number?

Oh, wait. I broke up with that dentist.

Because he's awful.

Will you find me a new one?

Thanks.

Love,

Your Cowardly Daughter

If your mom is not available I will take you to the dentist and give you sympathy (I feel the same way about the dentist by the way) and a treat (even if your behavior is not good--because I know how hard it is to be nice at the dentist). In the meantime . . . floss like crazy. I think it helps. Love--J

Sure Thelma, I'll take you to the dentist, but it'll have to be my dentist, so you'll have to come and see us. Probably I can't do it till after tax season, but April 16 we'll do it. Love you.

Come see me at my new office - it's great! Dr Wiltbank is soooo nice and (hopefully) I am too :) I would love to baby you and show you it doesn't have to be terrible, it's my specialty.

I will let you go to my dentist. He is very nice and has seen your brother in law on a moments notice because he is in horrible pain and he didn't like dentist when he was young and refused to go on his time. His office assistant is Sue and she doesn't get upset when you forget your appointment because life happens. I will even watch your children as it right by my house. Be brave...Geri

i haven't been to the dentist in several years. At first, it was because I lacked dental insurance. But soon after I got coverage I found out ny dentist had retired...and I was scared to go to anyone else! He was so gentle and kind, and patient with me & my dental phobia! I finally made an appointment with a new dentist -- it's at the end of the month -- but I'm getting more & more worked up over it!

Start asking everyone you know for reccomendations. I tried that, and unfortunately my insurance didn't cover anyone who was reccomended to me, but you might have better luck!
